There is extensive research which shows that capability is the key driver of job performance. 

What is Capability? Quite simply the inherent emotional (EQ) and cognitive (IQ) capability or potential that an individual brings to the work place. Research clearly shows that this accounts for about two thirds of job performance, whereas skills acquired through experience and training only account for a third.
